How this build is configured
The E-158S puts Foundation’s 12.5-foot body on the longer 158-inch E-Series chassis. That gives you the longer wheelbase and the higher GVWR of the bigger chassis — up to 14,500 lb — while the shorter body keeps the overall length down and improves the departure angle.
The build also introduced a major body option for Foundation: full-height, full-width dual-opening rear doors.
A cargo-van-style rear opening in a composite habitat
Most composite expedition bodies use either a conventional entry door or smaller rear access hatches.
For this vehicle, Foundation developed two large rear doors that open across essentially the full width and height of the back wall—more like the rear of a Transit or Sprinter cargo van.
Each door contains its own opening dual-pane acrylic window.
The rear opening can dramatically change how an interior is designed around:
- beds
- garages
- bikes
- motorcycles
- oversized cargo
- rear kitchens
- indoor/outdoor living
Why use the E-158S?
Longer is not always better.
The E-158S puts the 12.5-foot body on the longer 158-inch chassis, so you get the longer wheelbase and the higher GVWR of the bigger E-Series — up to 14,500 lb — but with a shorter overall length and a better departure angle than the full-length E-158.
For buyers who want E-Series 4x4 capability without the largest available camper body, it is a useful alternative.
A fully integrated exterior
The cab and composite habitat are both finished in Toyota Cavalry Blue, with black extrusions for contrast around the body.
The result makes the cutaway chassis and camper read visually as one vehicle rather than a commercial cab with a separate box installed behind it.
