VentureHaus: Ford Transit 156 with RampDeck

Adventure toy hauler + patio ·

This VentureHaus build pairs a Foundation FV-156 composite body on a Ford Transit 156 cutaway with the RampDeck: the whole rear wall lowers into a ramp and a load-bearing deck, opens into a railed patio, then closes back into a sealed, insulated composite wall. It’s a four-season adventure rig that hauls a side-by-side and turns into an outdoor room.

The build

Why this platform, and what it shows

The Transit is the value pick of the van platforms — a gas V6 that’s easy to fuel and service, with AWD available — which makes it a natural base for a do-more adventure rig. The FV-156 body brings a square, four-season composite habitat with true standing room and R11 insulation on the nimble 156" Transit.

The RampDeck is what makes this build. The full-height rear wall is hinged at the floor: lower it and it becomes a ramp to the ground and a flat, load-bearing deck level with the interior floor. Clip in the mesh side railings and that deck becomes a patio. Raise it and it seals back into an insulated composite wall — so a full-size side-by-side rides secured and weather-tight inside, and the same rig opens into an outdoor room at camp.

It’s a clean demonstration of the platform idea: one composite body that hauls toys, extends your living space, and still seals four-season tight.
